If you’ve got a little royal fan (or hey, you’re a big one yourself!), the Royal Gathering on Disney Cruise Line is a must-do. It’s your chance to meet several Disney Princesses all in one go—and yes, it’s as magical as it sounds. But unlike other character meet-and-greets onboard, this one does require a reservation. Here’s everything you need to know to book it and enjoy it to the fullest.

What is the Royal Gathering?

The Royal Gathering is a special event on Disney Cruise Line where you can meet several Disney Princesses all in one place—no chasing them around the ship or waiting in long lines. Typically, you’ll meet four princesses (though the lineup can vary). It’s a great opportunity for photos, autographs, and those magical one-on-one moments that make a cruise feel extra special.

How to Book It

Mark your calendar: reservations open 30 days before sailing. That’s right—everyone can book the Royal Gathering 30 days before their sail date, regardless of Castaway Club status. It’s one of the few things not tied to your loyalty level, so be ready!
Log into your Disney Cruise Line account. At the 30-day mark (usually just after midnight Eastern), log into your reservation on the DCL website or app.
Head to ‘Onboard Activities. Look for “Royal Gathering” under the Character Experiences category.
Select your time.Pick a time that works with your schedule. If it’s full, don’t give up—more slots sometimes open closer to the sail date or even onboard.

Tips for Enjoying the Experience

Arrive early. Even with a reservation, there can be a short wait. Showing up 10–15 minutes early helps keep the flow smooth and gives you time to snap some pre-meet photos.
Bring something to sign. Whether it’s a classic autograph book, a storybook, or a fun keepsake like a photo mat or pillowcase, the princesses are happy to add their royal signatures.
Dress to impress (or at least sparkle a little).Kids love wearing their princess gowns, and the photos are priceless. Grown-ups, you can lean into the theme too—just keep Disney’s costume guidelines in mind.
Photographers are there, but your camera is welcome too. Disney PhotoPass will be snapping away, but feel free to hand your phone to a Cast Member or bring your own camera.
Didn’t snag a spot? Don’t stress. Check with Guest Services once you board—the Royal Gathering sometimes has cancellations or last-minute openings. And don’t forget, princesses make surprise appearances all over the ship!
